DEFINITION

   

Alcohol & Drug Education Programs

Interactive group counseling or psychotherapy.

Individual Therapy

Individual counseling or psychotherapy. Type of therapy includes: insight oriented, behavior modifying and/or supportive, in an office or outpatient facility, face-to-face with the patient.

Group Therapy

Interactive group counseling or psychotherapy.

Family Counseling

Family counseling or psychotherapy for individual families or  groups of families.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Extended and increased frequency of group counseling or psychotherapy treatment services.

Crisis Intervention

A 24-hour service in emergency situations (immediate need) to arrange for appropriate services/programs.  This service can be provided face-to-face or by telephone.

Detoxification, Social

A 24-hour services offered in a non-hospital setting for safe substance withdrawal and transition to treatment.

Case Management

Services which assist individuals by monitoring necessary care,  includes: Identification and outreach, Individual assessment, Service planning, Implementation, Monitoring of service delivery and utilization, and Re-assessment.

Financial Counseling

Financial counseling provided by a qualified staff member or by a qualified credit counseling agency.

Intervention

The process of identification and referral of an individual who has a substance abuse disorder or related problems.  An example of related problems is co-dependence (Problems arising from association with a substance dependent person),  physical/emotional abuse or neglect, financial difficulty, loss of job, criminal behavior, etc...

Relapse Prevention

Intensive group counseling or psychotherapy for a patient that is unable to achieve sobriety following a treatment process with the initial focus on identification of relapse triggers and prevention relapse.

Residential Treatment

Residential treatment for addictions offering 24-hour treatment services offered in a non-hospital setting.

Transitional Residential

A 24-hour service that provides food, shelter, counseling, or referral to counseling, and other support services.  Services substance abusers recently completing a residential treatment program or in need of short-term supportive residential environment. 

Aftercare

Interactive group counseling or psychotherapy upon completion of the initial phase of treatment to maintain and apply skills learned in treatment program.

Continuing Care

Interactive group counseling or psychotherapy upon completion of the initial phase of treatment.

Community Housing

A 24-hour service that provides food, shelter, counseling, or referral to counseling, and other support services.  Services substance abusers recently completing a residential treatment program or in need of short-term supportive residential environment.
